We just finished show #3. It is definitely getting incrementally less terrifying. I have a mantra, or more like a Jedi mind trick that I tell myself before we go on stage. I pretend we are being judged on our confidence level, not our accuracy/musicianship.  So all we have to do is fake extreme confidence, and then it won’t matter if we mess up. The only problem is that the Jedi mind trick requires whisky, which I was unable to procure tonight. At last night’s show in St. Petersburg, I knocked on Andy from Erasure’s dressing room door ten minutes before we were supposed to go on. Andy peeled his head out from behind the door and said that Vince had the whisky. So I hurried over to Vince’s dressing room, knocked on the door, explained that I was having a whisky emergency. He had a brand new bottle but couldn’t get it open. Finally he found a knife and cut the seal.he gave me a cup of it and I ran down the hall back to the dressing room. Our tour manager Bobby was a little annoyed with me for disappearing ten minutes before we were supposed to walk on stage, and I can’t say that I blame him. Anyhow, tonight there was no whisky. But I think we managed to play okay anyway. My friend Ariel came to the show with her awesome eleven year old son in his New Order t-shirt, and after we played, I put my civilian clothes back on and went to into the audience to watch Erasure with them.
