Boston and Philly

We just pulled up to the Miriam Theater in Philly, which has bronze plaques in honor of Daryl Hall and John Oates outside.  Last night we played at House of Blues in Boston. Oddly, they had an incredible collection of folk/intuitive/self-taught art lining all three levels of the venue. I looked it up and they apparently have the largest collection in the country. Very cool but slightly frustrating to see it in such a dimly lit venue. Every day I need to find a room where I can do my 20 minute vocal warmup. In Boston I got to do it in this crazy private VIP dining room. It had one large table, medieval looking doors, intricate iron chandeliers and the walls were fully covered with sewn together patches of Indian cloth with beads. It was a part of an entire private wing of the venue which was members only, and looked like an upscale brothel (new business idea). Definitely the nicest place I’ve ever done a warmup. I thought the whole private club area was for Kanye-wanna-bes, with the models and champagne flowing. But the only people I saw up there were middle aged couples in matching khaki shorts. Reed’s family, including aunts, cousins and sister in laws, came to the show, as did a few friends of mine. The audience was pretty friendly and enthusiastic, which we appreciated. Sometimes I think Reed and I might inadvertently lapse into a comedy routine that no one wants to see. Gotta get dressed for Philly.
