I’m a little behind on posting! After Pittsburgh, we drove up to Toronto for a show at The Queen Elizabeth theater (she wasn’t there). We arrived the night before the show, so we had the next morning and afternoon free. I ventured on to the local bus and then subway to meet my friend Karen for lunch. Toronto reminded me a bit of New York. Hectic, with a lot of people and a lot of traffic. But I was so relieved to be out of Trump territory, at least for 24 hours. I made the mistake of going to Sephora before I met Karen, which is essentially like an alcoholic asking to black out. Although at least it was a productive blackout- I got some super cool metallic lipstick. And I still made it to lunch in time. Karen took me to an incredible vegan place for lunch, so now my new favorite restaurant is inconveniently located in Toronto. We couldn’t bring our open whisky across the border so I had to duck into a liquor store, aka a “LCBO” in Canada, to pick some up. I just wanted the travel size since we’d only be there one night. But fun fact- they don’t seem to have the little single serving travel size liquors in Canada. Or at least not at this store. Anyhow I bought a mid sized bottle of some Canadian whisky that the check-out guy recommended. I was just getting into a Lyft to go to the venue when I saw a fast moving cable car smash into the side a flatbed pickup truck that was trying to do a u-turn in front of it. The pickup truck spun around once or twice and stopped. Miraculously, everyone was okay. The Toronto Show in short: friendly audience, non-air conditioned dressing rooms and good catering.
